For independent practice owners

Partner your practice

You keep the practice you built. You stop carrying it alone. Specialty and emergency depth sits behind you, and the case comes back to you with a plan.

01Fit

Fit

Who this is for

Established, founder-led practices. The kind where the clients follow the doctor.

Every conversation with a practice owner is confidential, and stays that way whether or not anything follows.

This is written for the owner who still practises and intends to keep practising. If you are looking to hand the medicine to somebody else, this is not a fit, and we will say so early.

02The group behind the offer

The group behind the offer

Thirteen businesses, six cities, two countries

Thirteen Specialty Councils. No referral commission anywhere in the group.

Veterinary Holdings International is a group of separate operating companies, each responsible for its own clinical services.

Referral depth comes from Specialty Vet Hospitals, The Eye Vet, The Cancer Vet and The Exotics Vet. Training comes from IIVS. The group’s scope also covers The Dermatology Vet, The Family Vet, The Emergency Vet, The Behaviour Vet, The Veterinary Nursing Company, The Radiology Vet, The Pathology Vet and The Hospice Vet.

03What stays yours

What stays yours

Four things a partnership does not change

Ownership changes. These do not.

The name on the door, the team, the schedule and the standard of care stay exactly where they are.

Operational control

You run the practice. The schedule, the rota, the front desk. None of it moves to a head office.

Clinical control

The standard of care is yours. So is the formulary. In your building, on your case, you are the doctor.

Your team

Your people stay your people, working for you. They gain training and a career ladder no single practice can build alone.

The name on the door

The practice keeps its name and its character. If that would change, you hear it in the first conversation.

What you gain

Depth behind you

The things a single practice cannot build alone.

IIVS, the International Institute of Veterinary Specialization, is the group’s academy, wholly owned. Fourteen disciplines, delivered digitally with clinical rotations through the network.

Specialty backup

The case you would rather not take at five in the evening has somewhere to go. It comes back to you with a plan.

Training your team stays for

Your vets and nurses train through IIVS, the International Institute of Veterinary Specialization. Fourteen disciplines, on a ladder from PG certificate to specialist. People stay where they are still learning.

Shared records and procurement

One clinical record system across the network. You buy on the network’s terms.

Thirteen Specialty Councils

Each chair sets the medical standard for a discipline and is clinically accountable for every case in it, at every site.

A chair is accountable for the discipline, not for a site. Medical Director appointments are made by peer selection.

A council owns the protocols, the pathways and the credentialing for its discipline. The standard does not change from site to site, and it does not bend to a local commercial argument.

What we will never do

Four commitments. They are the same in every partnership.

No exceptions. These four are the same in every partnership, and they are the same for every business inside the group.

  1. Never Pay or take a referral commission No commission is paid or taken anywhere in the group, in either direction.
  2. Never Pay clinicians on production Our clinicians are salaried. Nobody here earns more by treating more.
  3. Never Take over the medicine We resource your standard. We do not overrule it. Tie-breaks follow one order: patient safety, then quality, then finance.
  4. Never Compete with you for your patient A patient you send in is yours. The referral comes back to you. We do not keep a client you introduced.

Patient safety, then quality, then finance. In that order, in every tie-break.

The founding principle The VHI tie-break rule.

Process

How a conversation goes

Four steps, at a pace you set. Every conversation is confidential.

You set the pace. Nothing is signed before the outline is in writing and you have read it.

  1. 01 A first conversation, in confidence One or two of us, and you. You tell us what you built. We tell you whether a partnership fits.
  2. 02 You look at us Visit the clinics. Talk to the clinicians who lead businesses inside the group, and to their teams.
  3. 03 We look at the practice We spend time in your building at a pace you set. The method is agreed with you before we start.
  4. 04 A written outline What stays yours, what the group brings, and how decisions get made. In writing, before anything is signed.

Write to us

Tell us where you practise and what you have built. If it is not a fit, we will say so quickly.

A first conversation is one or two of us, and you. It is confidential, and it stays that way whether or not anything follows.
